Who we serve
The right fit matters — so we're transparent about it
Recovery homes work when they meet people at the right moment. Here is who The Ginger House serves well, and — just as important — who deserves a different kind of care first.
A good fit
Who thrives here
- Women and girls in recovery from an eating disorder
- Medically stable, as confirmed by the current treatment team
- Stepping down from residential, partial hospitalization, or another higher level of care
- Engaged with (or willing to establish) outpatient therapy and dietitian support
- Ready to practice daily life — school, work, community — with structured support
Unsure whether this describes you or someone you love? That’s exactly what the first phone call is for — reach out and ask. There’s no wrong question.
Being honest with you
What The Ginger House is not
We are not a hospital or medical facility
Anyone needing active medical stabilization deserves round-the-clock medical care first. We'll gladly hold a conversation for later, when the time is right.
We are not crisis or emergency care
In a mental health crisis, immediate help matters more than a waitlist: call or text 988, or text HOME to 741741. Our door remains open afterward.
We are not a locked or involuntary setting
Residents choose to be here. If a higher level of containment is what safety requires right now, we'll say so honestly and help you find it.
If we’re not the right place, we’ll help you find the place that is
Every inquiry gets a thoughtful answer, whether or not it leads to admission. If someone needs a different level of care, we’ll say so kindly and clearly, and point toward appropriate resources — because the goal was never to fill a bed. It was always recovery.
Wondering if this is the right next step?
Tell us where you are in the journey. We'll listen carefully and give you an honest read — including a referral elsewhere if that's what serves recovery best.
We respond to every inquiry within 1 business day.
